SAVE YOUR VISION MONTH 2021

National Save Your Vision Month March 2021
WE ARE GIVING AWAY TEN PAIRS OF OUR SAFETY EYEWEAR

Every year, Save Your Vision Month takes place throughout March, with the aim to promote good eye health and the prevention of eye injury. This year’s campaign is focused on promoting awareness around digital eyestrain and the importance of receiving regular, comprehensive eye tests with a particular focus on the harm caused by blue light.

Even though the awareness month was founded by the American Optometric Association (AOA), here at Beeswift, we acknowledge the importance of supporting and contributing to this campaign. We want to use our presence to promote the use of correct PPE and help prevent eye injury.

Actions in place to support good eye health include :-

- All employees who sit at a desk are to complete Computer Workstation Assessments. This includes hazards such as glare coming from other sources such as lights and windows. It also assesses the brightness and contrast of the screens. These assessments are reviewed every two years or when there are changes to equipment, incident reports, etc. - We have installed anti-glare blinds on all windows in the offices and the lighting system is slightly dimmed.

- We offer to reimburse the cost of an eye test for anyone who sits at a desk.

- We encourage employees who work at a desk to take a break from their screens at least once every hour to prevent eye strain.

- Finally, we have a reporting procedure for any employee to report any hazard at work which will be investigated to prevent a recurrence.

As a manufacturer and wholesaler of personal protective equipment (PPE) and workwear, we hope to make a positive impact by encouraging people to think twice before doing a job without wearing the correct safety eyewear.

Did you know that according to the Vision Matters Organisation, every year in the UK, 30,000 people suffer from a DIY related eye injury? Wearing normal spectacles or contact lenses will not offer sufficient protection. You should always wear CE certified safety eyewear and we can supply you with the right product for the job.

Check out the safety implications of the job you are about to do and what eye protection it requires. If in doubt, do not hesitate to reach out to us through social media for a fast response, whereby our technical team can advise you.

Here are some of the main points you should consider when buying eye protection:-

* Beware of the hazards within your workplace or the risk of the job you are about undertake.

* Understand different types of safety eyewear, lens materials, and what level of protection you require.

* Know your preference in design and style and what is comfortable for you.

* If you wear prescription glasses and do not wear contact lenses, there are frames that can install prescription lenses.

* Ensure that the eyewear is approved for safety use and conforms to European Standard BSEN 166.
